Celestite is also known by the name Celestine. It has been thought that it promotes purity of heart and attracts good fortune. These beautiful crystals are a classic shade of blue, blue-grey, dark blue and light blue.
Celestite gets it name from the Latin word Caelestis meaning Celestical which in turn is derived from the Latin word Caelum meaning Sky or Heaven.
Mohs hardness scale 3 – 3.5 making it a soft mineral and should not be left submerged in water.
Celestite is a mineral consisting of Strontium Sulfate (SrS04); occurring as crystal and also in compact massive and fibrous forms. It is mostly found in sedimentary rocks often associated with the minerals gypsum, anhydrite and halite.
